Glass dimensions
Vision Control® determined using width and height ratios.
For exterior applications, additional considerations include:
- Glass deflection (both interior and exterior lites must be of equal thickness)
- Application type: sloped (what angle) or vertical
- Design loads and climate according to the project location

i) height (assuming horizontally-oriented louvers)
Standard glass sizes for heights exist based on a whole (exact) number of louvers able to be inserted in a sealed glass panel. This ensures total privacy and direct light blockage when the louvers are closed. Each successive height is 1 5/16” (33mm) taller than the previous one, corresponding to the centerline distance between the louvers.Non-standard glass heights can be obtained by adding series of 3/16” increments to any given standard height. Increments cover potential gaps at the top or bottom of a unit and make Vision Control®
For vertical louvers, the height chart can be interpreted as “standard glass sizes for widths”.
ii) width (assuming horizontally-oriented louvers)
The louvers are cut to any desired length, meaning there are no standard glass widths. We recommend a minimum glass width of approximately 6” (152mm), although narrower panels can be manufactured. A unit measuring 6” (152mm) in width will give a visible area of approximately 4 ½” (114mm) in width, once sealant and spacer sight lines are deducted.
